Instructor Bio

My name is Teresa and I have the privilege of being the founder of MyPilates Supporting U.

Exercise has always played an important role in my life. From a young age I was very active, and at just 10 years old I achieved my provincial colours in swimming. Looking back, that was probably where my lifelong passion for movement and fitness truly began.

I discovered Pilates later in life, but once I experienced the incredible strengthening and balancing benefits it offers, I was completely hooked. Pilates helped me understand how powerful mindful movement can be, and it inspired me to help others experience those same life-changing benefits.

After moving to a farm in my twenties, I opened a small gym within my local community. I ran a successful fitness business there for over 10 years, even taking on the challenge of training the local rugby team — which was certainly a challenge, but also great fun!

My education is always ongoing, and I regularly attend professional workshops and training to keep up to date with the latest developments in Pilates and movement science.

My qualifications include,

  • Level 3 Mat Pilates Qualification
  • Future Fit Training / Body Control Pilates
  • 9 Years of teaching experience
  • Certifications
    • Pilates for Common Orthopaedic Conditions
    • Pre and Postnatal Pilates
    • Level 3 in Physical Activity (Pilates) and Health Considerations for the Older Adult

My goal is to create supportive and welcoming Mat Pilates classes where people can build strength, improve posture, and feel more confident in their bodies.

My personal mantra

‘A healthy body leads to a healthy mind and a healthy life’

My personal teaching philosophy

“I believe Pilates should be accessible to everyone, and my classes focus on small group teaching so that every participant receives individual guidance and support.”

I’ve been to Teresa’s classes for over six years and can highly recommend her. As well as being a lovely caring person her classes are excellent. She puts everyone at ease, catering for all skill levels. She takes her time with each exercise, ensuing our technique is accurate and allows enough time to really get the benefit from each move. She also ensures that everyone works to their own level and within the boundaries of their own body, offering different levels of difficulty, or alternate options. I always leave the class feeling more supple and destressed and I notice that I get a better night’s sleep after her class. I had bad sciatica before joining Teresa’s class and now, with regular attendance, its gone. I strongly recommend you join one of her classes (and maybe encourage your partner and/or friends to join you too!) -

I have tried a few yoga and Pilates classes over the years (I am 64) but without a doubt Teresa’s class has been the best. She introduces a mixture of gentle and (sometimes challenging) exercises and stretches, but she always reminds us to work at our own pace. I have tried free YouTube classes, but Teresa’s classes are so much better. She takes the time to get to know each member of the class which really helps. Thanks to Teresa I have developed core strength and improved posture which is so important at my age. I can highly recommend her class
